Comedic actor and cookbook author Dom DeLuise dies

Actor, comedian and chef Dom DeLuise has died.
DeLuise died "peacefully in his sleep" at around 6 p.m. Monday night at a hospital in Los Angeles.



The actor has starred in dozens of films over the years, often teaming up with off-screen pal Burt Reynolds.Most recently, he was working on the CGI live-action fantasy film "Instant Karma," starring Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan and Mira Sorvino. Reynolds and DeLuise both had "voice" roles in the film.
DeLuise was nominated for a Golden Globe and starred in classics such as "The Cannonball Run" and "Spaceballs."
He also starred in the comedy drama "Fatso," which was written and directed by Brooks' late wife, Anne Bancroft.
In recent years DeLuise did a lot of voice work for animated shows, including "Duck Dodgers," "The Wild Thornberries," "Hercules" and "All Dogs Go to Heaven: The Series." His role of Itchy Itchiford in the show was a continuation of his turn in the movie version of "All Dogs Go to Heaven," which also starred the voice of Reynolds.
