A way to success " Wolverine claws"

Hugh Jackman's latest outing as clawed mutant Wolverine has earned $35m (£23.4m) on its first day of release in the US, according to figures.

The summer blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine has outperformed two of the previous movies about the superheroes.

The final chapter of that trilogy, X-Men: The Last Stand, is still the most successful, with $45.1m (£30.2m) on opening day in 2006.

Wolverine was leaked onto the internet more than a month before its release.

It was downloaded more than 100,000 times in the 24 hours after it was leaked on to several websites.

Wolverine was released in the UK on 29 April.

Reviews of the film, which focus on the back story of Jackman's tortured mutant, have been mixed.
