American Idol "Kris Allen" back in Conway

Kris Allen is doing his American Idol hometown taping today in Conway and Little Rock, Arkansas, complete with the usual parade and live performances.

Kris Allen is a student at the University of Central Arkansas majoring in business. Kris Allen has been singing and playing the guitar since he was 13 years old.He currently lives in Conway, Arkansas but is originally from Jacksonville, Arkansas. He is 23 years old.

I gotta tell you, compared to the coverage for Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert, Kris' local Fox affiliate is going all out. He's the biggest thing on their website at the moment, with -- believe it or not -- "Live updates every hour" on the TV station, and a special "Where is Kris?" button on the website.
I guess that's the cool thing about "Idol" and smaller towns -- it really becomes a big community pride thing, gets their name on the map. Wonder if Kris will get a sign on the outskirts: "Conway, home of American Idol finalist Kris Allen."
