By The News NEW YORK (Reuters): British actress Tilda Swinton says drinking just makes her sleepy or sick so when seeking inspiration to play a loud, hard-partying alcoholic in her latest film, she turned to her friends. The self-confessed "art world freak," who won a best supporting actress Oscar last year for "Michael Clayton," plays a 40-year-old flamboyant, lying alcoholic in "Julia," which opens in some U.S. theaters on Friday. "I'm so aware very often when you see alcoholism in films, people tend to emphasize something that I don't really recognize in the alcoholics I know and love, which is a kind of loser quality," Swinton told Reuters in a recent interview. "I don't think of alcoholics as losers, particularly. Alcoholics tend to number the most energetic and fantastic people I know. Actor, comedian and chef Dom DeLuise has died. DeLuise died "peacefully in his sleep" at around 6 p.m. Monday night at a hospital in Los Angeles. The actor has starred in dozens of films over the years, often teaming up with off-screen pal Burt Reynolds.Most recently, he was working on the CGI live-action fantasy film "Instant Karma," starring Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan and Mira Sorvino. Reynolds and DeLuise both had "voice" roles in the film. DeLuise was nominated for a Golden Globe and starred in classics such as "The Cannonball Run" and "Spaceballs." He also starred in the comedy drama "Fatso," which was written and directed by Brooks' late wife, Anne Bancroft. Moulin Rouge actress Nicole Kidman has spoken out about her unhappy marriage to superstar Tom Cruise saying that she felt stifled in the relationship. The older brother of American Idol champ David Cook has lost his battle with brain cancer, according to the singer's official website. Adam Cook, 37, had battled cancer for more than a decade, including throughout Cook's bid for the American Idol crown last year. The Terre Haute, Ind., lawyer had even flown out to L.A. amid chemotherapy treatment to see his brother, 26, take the Idol stage. The brothers had one of AI's most memorable, tear-worthy moments ever, when Adam sat in the audience in April 2008 and watched David perform his rendition of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby." It was a commitment that didn't go unnoticed by the judges. Simon Cowell, too, offered his condolences. "I was incredibly saddened to hear the news," he said in a statement to PEOPLE. "I met Adam Cook a few times at American Idol . He was an incredible guy, and right now my thoughts are with David and his family."

Amy Winehouse has won a court order banning the paparazzi from pursuing her outside her London home, a source close to the singer's management team said Saturday. The singer sought the order to ban photographers if they follow her or approach her within 100 meters (yards) of her home, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not directly involved in the case. Ever since Hulu's incredibly funny first advertisement starring Alec Baldwin (it premiered during the Super Bowl back in early February), I've been salivating for more. If you pay any attention to what Baldwin says during the ad, apparently salivating is all I know how to do know since my brain is mush. It's true though - my brain is mush. I've blown through the entire first season of Friday Night Lights in about two and half days thanks to Hulu. Anyway, after the Baldwin ad, Hulu followed up with a mediocre second try featuring Eliza Dushku rallying for Dollhouse more than Hulu. The third attempt with Seth MacFarlane trumped them all though as he went through his entire catalogue of Family Guy voices to pitch the online video service. To kick off May, Hulu just released the fourth ad in the campaign and Rescue Me fans are gonna be happy with this one. It features Denis Leary talking faster than he did on his No Cure for Cancer album, so try and keep up with him....

The summer blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine has outperformed two of the previous movies about the superheroes. The final chapter of that trilogy, X-Men: The Last Stand, is still the most successful, with $45.1m (£30.2m) on opening day in 2006. Wolverine was leaked onto the internet more than a month before its release. It was downloaded more than 100,000 times in the 24 hours after it was leaked on to several websites. Wolverine was released in the UK on 29 April. Reviews of the film, which focus on the back story of Jackman's tortured mutant, have been mixed.
